Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a gentle, evidence-informed modality rooted in thousands of years of traditional healing. It works by restoring balance, improving circulation and supporting the body’s natural ability to heal.
The Northport Wellness Center is pleased to welcome Jacqueline Luna-Knapp, licensed acupuncturist and owner of New Moon Health RC, to our professional team. Jacqueline was born into a family of island herbalists and shamans, and she came to natural medicine later in life. After nearly 30 years of studying various forms of traditional and alternative healing, she found Chinese Medicine to be the most consistent, holistic and powerful system for creating harmony in the body.
Jackie is passionate about the transformative potential of Chinese Medicine and loves treating patients of all ages using an art unlike any other. She has also taught the next generation of practitioners, serving as a former professor of Pediatrics in Chinese Medicine and Oncology in Chinese Medicine at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM) in New York City.
At New Moon Health RC, her philosophy centers on empowerment through Chinese Medicine—using holistic therapies that not only relieve symptoms but identify and treat the root causes of illness.
Jackie offers the following healing modalities:
Acupressure
Moxibustion
Gua Sha
Tui Na
Electrostimulation
Color light therapy
Herbal formulas
How Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Work
Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine work by regulating the flow of Qi, the body’s vital energy, through its channels. When Qi flows properly, the body can heal, rebalance and resolve symptoms.
Practitioners gather information through the Four Examinations—looking, asking/listening, smelling and touching. Using the principles of Yin and Yang and the Five Phases, a pattern emerges and a diagnosis is formed. Each patient is unique, so every treatment plan is individualized to address the root cause and restore healthy Qi flow.
Chinese Medicine and Nutrition
Oriental Medicine is a complete medical system that includes acupuncture, moxibustion, herbal formulations, Tui Na (therapeutic massage), nutrition and Qi Gong. With a 5,000-year history grounded in observation of nature, movement and balance, it complements modern medicine by offering a distinctive, holistic approach to healing.
Acupuncture for Children
Children often respond quickly and gently to Chinese Medicine. At New Moon Health, Jackie has spent more than 17 years refining a pediatric approach rooted in medical Qi Gong known as Pediatric Tui Na.
Jackie understands that a child’s health is shaped not only by genetics but also by environment, nutrition, stress and daily demands. Her goal is to help children grow healthy and strong—while also giving parents support and peace of mind.
